In 2017, The National Cancer Institute estimated that 15.5 million people were living with cancer of any site in the United States. "Living with" being defined as in treatment, remission or cured and equates to approximately 4.6% of the population.

Smaller studies excepted, few studies have been conducted to understand LDN’s effectiveness against cancer. In 2016, researchers at St. George’s University in London found that LDN reduced tumor growth by interfering with cancer cell signaling. Published in the International Journal of Oncology, the Abstract summarized: "Our data support further the idea that LDN possesses anticancer activity, which can be improved by modifying the treatment schedule."
